     Valerian derives its name in part from the Latin word valere meaning 'to be in good health' or 'to make strong'. It has been in use by the Arabs since the tenth century. Native to Europe and parts of Asia, valerian has since been naturalized to North America where it grows in low lying nutrient rich meadows. This distinctive tasting tea is made from valerian's many long slender roots.
     Valerian tea is often used to unwind after a busy day or enjoyed before bed.
     All the herb in this tea is organically grown and prepared ensuring its natural taste and active properties are enjoyed in every cup.

Ingredients: Organic valerian root (Valeriana officinalis)

Directions:
     This herb has a tough cellular structure and some heat is required to release all of its characteristics and flavour. Use one teabag per cup of hot water in a stainless steel or glass pot. Cover, boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10-20 minutes. Extra tea can be kept in a covered glass jar for a day or two in the refrigerator.
     If you desire a pleasure tea or quick brew, use one teabag per cup of hot water. Pour boiling water over teabags, cover, and let steep for 5-7 minutes to taste.
